I don’t know if I entirely agree with this, but as someone proficient with threading and concurrency I know I definitely agree with this.

About time. I like a lot of what I’ve seen to date, and far more favorably than the XHTML “Perfection or Bust” model. As noted here: XHTML2 has the XML parser strictness and pages will fail to display if they’re not well-formed. HTML 5 is going the complete opposite direction, assuming that people will code [...]

‘Vienna’ has been renamed. For now. Of course, this entails the requisite snidely amusing remarks, comparing it to the 7 Deadly Sins and a more hopeful Seven-of-Nine reference. The latter’s a bit off though – it omits WfWG, NT 3.1, 3.5, 3.51 and W2K3 (though the last one’s server-only and the first is a variant [...]

The Nickelback dude music with 300 visuals. Though someone forgot to turn off the Spanish subtitles when clipping video footage…

More YouTube Goodness The middle’s a little weak, but the opening and late part is edited well.

I tweaked the site’s style a tad. Links used a light gray that blended too well into the rest of the text making them way too hard to spot, so I switched the a:link and a:visited CSS selectors from #798288 and #8C9EAA to crimson ( ) and indianred ( ). For those looking for HTML color charts, [...]

I presented at last Thursday’s PyATL (Python Atlanta User Group). These slides include Python programming tips, large and small, derived from PkManager.py, a project from work the past few years. If you’re interested in multithreading, web serving, py2exe, KeyboardInterrupt and other Python action, have at it. Available in original Powerpoint 2003 format for now. I’ll [...]

Videos using Bon Jovi’s Blaze of Glory, Wanted Dead or Alive, Bring Me To Life and I Need a Hero (both Bonnie Tyler and Shrek 2/Jennifer Saunders versions). Clips from Firefly (TV show) and Serenity (movie). Blaze and Bring work best, though Bring has better editing I think. Good editing jobs, and apropos music choices.

Final Fantasy IX video with Breakaway music by Kelly Clarkson. Alternatively, FFX, FFVIII and KH footage. Same music, different visuals, same top quality. Both rated 5 stars. Here and here are 2 more I liked, though they’re only rated 4 stars. And for a change, this one is FFX with Every Time We Touch audio. [...]

Here. The acting is a tad less impressive than the original (of course), but amusing.

This one is even better than Happy Feet 300, IMO. Larry King gets ‘the’ line

OK, I’ve been roaming thru YouTube lately. Some of the ‘amateur’ work is simply stunning. To wit, Halo 300. Slick shit, ain’t it? It helps if you’ve seen the original 300 trailer first. Personally I find it better than the 2nd official trailer. Here’s a Halo 300 trailer using the 2nd official trailer’s audio instead [...]

Bumped to WordPress 2.2.1 and updated the layout while I was at it. Hard to find a good theme. Requirements are simple: Flow based: I use various machines. Fixed-width themes waste space and are, IMO, ugly. Widget ready: 2.2′s widget support is handy. Archive + Category Counts: Show the # posts in each; some themes [...]
