Comments on /.: Pretty sure on the list of ‘Things not to do if you like your job’, admitting you’re inspired by the competition and complimenting their design TO THE PRESS has got to be in the top 3. I would probably go with defecating on the CEO’s desk, being caught copulating with cleaning equipment, [...]

It was a fun ride while it lasted, but I’m moving on from the Unified Time Platform. Oh, still at Microsoft, just a different group. I’m joining the Windows Application Experience team under Adam Stritzel. Yes, I is a Windows 8 developer For those wondering “WTF am I doing?”, I’ll see if I can hunt [...]

The comments are more amusing (and informative) than the story. To wit: (what happened to 3com?) They started buying companies. Started with them in Massachusetts in ’93. They had some of the worst and most disorganized upper management ever. The guys doing corporate strategy must have been ADHD. They would buy a new (usually startup) [...]

OK, it’s not new, but I wanted to toss out a link to The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, AKA Fake Steve. Most amusing, and not entirely fake. Despite the irony, and over the top exaggeration and entertainment, there’s comments like this: Why do you think people go to the trouble to make money in [...]

Very cool. Better than HDMI: IIRC, HDMI’s signaling is basically a single DVI link, and isn’t rated to push anything past 1920×1200. Pretty much anything higher requires a dual-link DVI connection, which involves more complex cabling and signal routing on the board. DisplayPort is a much smaller connector and has an overall smaller PCB footprint, [...]

One of the best scenes of the movie. Know the title? P.S. Bonus points if you recognize Traci Lords. P.P.S. This one’s got the true opening (pre-credits). Makes a tad more sense if you start here. Plus it’s very high quality. Damn, still a great movie.

Primo Ari Gold. “I wanna fuck Angelie Jolie. The only difference is, I might actually have a shot.” “I’m gonna be there in 90 seconds….If all this is not taken care of I will choke you out with a strap on.” “I happen to know Leanna. My god. She’s way too hot for you man. [...]

Read this and try to explain how Obamacare is radical socialism run amok and not one step to the right of Nixoncare. Anyone want to call Tricky Dick a communist? Obama’s not a communist or a socialist. You might call him overly intellectual, politically inept at governance or, worst, ineffectual. But he’s not a commie [...]

‘Redistribution’ is not necessarily a bad thing: “The fact is that Obama is a redistributionist who claims that jobs are owed and not earned.” The fact is some of America’s greatest prosperity was during the 50′s and 60′s. Tax rates for the rich ran in the 70-90% range. That was when America was as redistributionist [...]

I saw an exchange of comments and couldn’t stop laughing: I saw a Discovery channel special on mega-engineering and the plans to cover Houston with a dome [discovery.com] were quite a shock to me (here’s a brief non-flash writeup [greenpacks.org]). I’ll bet you’re wondering what those panels are made of… You can’t do this [...]

blist strives to be a better list type, especially for not-small lists: a list-like type with better asymptotic performance and similar performance on small lists The BList is a type that looks, acts, and quacks like a Python list, but has better performance for for modifying large lists. For small lists (fewer than 128 elements), [...]
